Do you require quality external waterproofing that won't cut any corners?

External waterproofing is an essential part of any build, and poor quality or incorrectly done works can cost you thousands in repair bills and additional time. It can also affect the integrity of important structures or even affect those living around you. These are all headaches you can avoid by getting the right external waterproofing from the start.

The bulk of our external waterproofing work is found in balconies and retaining walls. Both types of waterproofing require special treatment and specific products in order to be done well. There are also various options available to either increase the longevity or reduce the risk of damage to the membranes during works like backfilling.

In our maintenance division we’ve seen apartment building movement over time cause severe cracks in balcony slabs. Combined with failed low-quality waterproofing, this can result in cascades of water running off one balcony to the balcony below. Not only is this a problem for the occupants of the property below, it’s a huge cost to the owner of the subpar balcony who now has to rip up all the tiling on their balcony and get the waterproofing fixed.

    Helpful Hint #9637

You really do get what you pay for with waterproofing, and the cheapest price on a job is really not going be the best job. There's a huge variance in quality between cheap waterproofing materials and expensive ones, and the same goes for the labour that goes into it. You might think you're saving money in the short term by using your tiler to do the waterproofing, but you might find yourself paying out more in the long run.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Put it this way. It’ll be more expensive to have below ground waterproofing recovery than it would have been if you’d paid a little extra during construction to have it done properly. However, it’s still cheaper to just bite the bullet and get it fixed as soon as you possibly can, because as conditions worsen it’s going to affect a lot of things and you’ll end up coughing up more money for more repairs than you might have realised.
